Compassion and Joy Meditations or Mantras

A set of two short instructional meditations or mantras; the compassion mantra and the reward mantra. The compassion mantra is based on the work of Kristen Neff, Ph.D. and is designed to help you develop a practice of self-compassion, and can be especially useful for those hard to deal with moments. The reward mantra is designed to help you underline moments of joy or reward in your life to help counteract the tendency of the brain to pay more attention to painful events in our lives than those that bring us joy.

Time for you-Meditation

This meditation is the Connect tool or meditation. It is a meditation designed to help you develop the practice of taking a time out to relax and give yourself care. The meditation focuses on relaxation, developing a connection with yourself, as well as with all sources of love and support available to you. This meditation is approximately 15 minutes in length.

These meditations were developed in response to requests by the women in my women’s group for shorter versions of this tool. The meditations also vary slightly in their content. These variations will allow you to pick and choose in developing you own personal version of connecting with yourself. And for times when you would like to connect without getting too relaxed there is one version without music.

Recognizing your Brain State

Most of us are unaware of changes in the state of our brain and the resulting changes in our capabilities. This meditation is designed to help you identify your brain state. It is not necessary to have an understanding of brain states to benefit from this meditation.
Listening to it, will guide you in stopping to check in with how you are thinking, feeling, behaving and perceiving. This will introduce you to how changes in our brain state show up in our lives. To learn more about brain states and how they impact us, check out the course Triggered & Trapped.

Wisest Self Meditation

This guided meditation with musical background; helps you build a connection between you and the wisest part of yourself. It isn’t necessary to have a connection or believe you have a wisest part. This guided meditation will help you use your imagination to create one. Your wisdom will very likely flow through your imagination.
Your wisest self is the part of you that knows everything about you. It knows all of your struggles, all of your mistakes and beliefs of insufficiency, and loves you anyway. This wisest part can see the bigger picture, knows what is best for you, and that you deserve to be yourself.
The more often you listen to this meditation, the stronger the connection between you and this wise part of you will become.

Metta Meditation

Metta Meditation or loving-kindness meditation is a practice that helps you cultivate feelings of kindness, love, or caring. In it, you direct those feelings toward others and yourself.
The meditation involves repeating a series of statements which may be tailored to fit your own needs or desires. This version includes suggestions for those who find it difficult to feel caring for themselves. In this way, Metta meditation is another way of developing the skill of self-compassion.

This meditation, besides being very relaxing, guides you in you enhancing qualities you want more of in your life.
In this recording, I use the qualities of contentment, confidence, and security. I encourage you to insert the qualities you wish to have more of when using the meditation.
